 Basic Components of Automobile 

Automobile can be considered to consist of five basics components:

⇒ Engineer Power Plant: It is source of power.

⇒ Frame and Chassis: It supports the engine, wheels, body, braking

system, steering etc.

⇒ Transmission system, which transom its power from the engine to the car wheels. It consists of clutch, transmission, shaft, axles and

differential. 

⇒ Body, which is fitted on chassis.

⇒ Automobile controlling system: Steering, brakes etc.

Accessories for safety and comfort including light, air conditioner,

heater, air bags and wiper etc.

Basic Structure:

Power Unit: It provides the motive power for all the various functions which the vehicle or any part of it, may be required to perform. The engine used in automobiles is internal combustion engines. The Internal combustion Engine can be SI or CI engine. 

Transmision system: It consists of Clutch, Gear Box to the rear axle through propeller shaft and differential gear to driving wheel.

    a) Electrical Supply System; Battery and Dynamo. 

    b) Ignition system. Ignition coil and magnetic ignition 

    c) Lighting system

    d) Signaling system 

    e) Horn, Direction indicator, Roof light, Radio, Heater, Fan etc.
